Village Manager

Village of New Lebanon, Montgomery County, Ohio is now accepting applications and resumes for the position of Village Manager.  The Village provides full municipal services to a population base of 3,712 and requires an energetic professional with project management experience. Currently there are 28 full-time and 23 part-time, seasonal, and volunteer employees.  The Police Department consists of a full-time Chief, 9 full-time officers (including command staff) and 4 part-time officers.  The Fire Department has a full-time Chief, 3 full-time Firefighter/EMTs, and 12 part-time/volunteers.  The total annual budget of the Village is $ 9.7 million.  The community has an excellent school system located within the incorporated area of the Village serving a student population of approximately 1,250 students.

Chief of Police

Village of New Lebanon, Montgomery County, Ohio is now accepting applications and resumes for the position of Full-Time Police Chief. Only qualified applicants meeting the standards set forth in the job description will be considered. The Police Chief works under the direction of the Municipal Manager and is responsible for providing leadership, management, and direction to the police department.  Essential duties of the Police Chief shall include planning, directing, managing, and supervising the administrative, operational, and financial activities of the police department as well as any other duties related to this position. The Police Department consists of a full-time Chief, 10 full-time officers (including command staff) and 4 part-time officers. The department has a current operating budget of $1.7million.

Service Department Superintendent

To succeed in this role the ideal candidate will need to effectively communicate and be focused on delivering high-quality results. We are looking to add a department head who can demonstrate strong leadership skills, is motivated by success, and someone capable of working towards achieving higher results. The department consists of 5 full-time service workers, a working foreman, and has a current operating budget of $2.7 million.

The Service Department Superintendent works under the general direction of the Municipal Manager and is responsible for providing leadership, management, and assistance to the Service Department. This is an administrative, supervisory, and technical work position. The position requires a working knowledge of all public works and administrative responsibilities for the village infrastructure including the divisions of water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer systems, streets, parks and state highways.  Resumes will be accepted until the position is filled with the first review of resumes beginning on August 5, 2024.

Chief Financial Officer

Under the general direction of the Municipal Manager, assumes full management responsibility for assigned functions, services, and activities of the village including but not limited to the Finance, Records, and Human Resources. The total annual budget of the Village is $ 9.7 million.  Responsible for the total operations of the finance department in financial planning, accounting practices, financial relations with outside sources, budgeting, audit, income tax, accounting, purchasing, personnel, insurance, payroll, receivables, payables, permanent records, and utilities.

Service Department Worker

This is skilled work, which requires a CDL (commercial drivers’ license).  A worker in this class is responsible for the performance of a variety of types of skilled labor along with other physical labor.  Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Foreman and/or Superintendent.  Equipment used includes, but is not limited to: front end loader, bucket truck, backhoe, large mowing equipment, dump truck, snowplow, salt spreader, paint striper, tar kettle, jack hammer, lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf machine, chain saw, power, table saw, welder, meter reading equipment, and a sign machine. 

 

Performs a variety of skilled labor, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, concrete work, and landscaping.  Responsible for routine operation and maintenance of various types of equipment.  Performs physical labor including hauling, cutting, cleaning, shoveling, and painting.  Operates a variety of manual and power tools and equipment appropriate to job related tasks.  Responsible for pruning, planting, maintaining trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds.  Reads water meters in both residential and commercial establishments, makes entries in meter books.  Checks meters for damages, makes small repairs, if possible, tests meters for accuracy. Starting pay is $21.08/hr.

 

Pre-employment testing, background check, and drug screening will be required.
